well i've made a blog in blogger then - just like millions of others! hmmm i suppose its nice if ppl ready em, but i've found with blogs that i've done on myspace and stuff, the real reason to write em is for yaself as the blogs writer to look at in months, or years time.. its a nice snapshot of ya life i guess, like pics - and not quite as girly as a diary.. i suppose if i get too wishywashy and blabby whic i might do at time, at least i can erase it :) so here goes nuthin..

was a good gig - especially the first set which was a rather rolling dubby beast of a track that built up nicely

there was even the playin of REAL instruments! and sounded rather fine on the soundsystem at the Rigger... i was impressed with the whole loudness of it..and yes - indeed i did drink too much pop and decided to walk home to hanley .. and got LOST

i ended up at this rather picturesque area around 3am

ok, it seems the mob attackin the policestation WENT to the rave afterwards..which the police broke up at 10am the following morning.. at least the law were sensible there and didnt try to stop it in the night... what IS bad is all the officers covering up their numbers so they cant be identified..

so of course they can bash away happily at people for the indignity they suffered earlier HAAAA
its not right to have attacked the police station obviously, but covering up ya id when ya go for a fight with em just stinks of being a coward.

Ravers lay siege to police station

Violence erupted at an illegal rave yesterday after a mob laid siege to a seaside police station, hurling bottles, cans and stones.

Police reinforcements from across Norfolk rushed to the main police station in Great Yarmouth as about 100 young people protested outside. They were angry over the arrest of three men in a van who were believed to be taking musical equipment to an illegal rave in the town.

Two police cars were damaged and several officers received minor cuts and bruises - one was hit in the face by a full can of beer - as the mob screamed for the release of the three.

Officers in riot gear tried to control the crowd which gathered around midnight, half an hour after the men's arrest on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner's consent. The crowd drifted away after about an hour and went to dance the rest of the night away at a warehouse on the town's Harfrey industrial estate.

Officers in protective gear and with dogs were attacked with missiles, including lengths of wood, as they monitored the event.

At about 10am yesterday, about 100 policemen, including officers drafted in from Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, moved in to break up the rave. One female officer needed hospital treatment on an injured hand.

The party was attended by more than 300 people. Police said 15 people were arrested after the attack which they termed a "major incident."

They said the arrests related to violent disorder, possession of drugs and taking a vehicle without consent. Officers also seized 44 vehicles as part of the investigation.

Chief Supt Bob Scully of Norfolk Police said the attacks were "shameful" and promised to track down those involved.

Ravers accused the police of being heavy-handed. Several claimed that they had been left with cuts and bruises after being hit by batons.

Others accused officers of damaging their cars by smashing windows and denting bodywork. All claimed to have no knowledge of the violence at the police station.

Karl Rance, 24, from Bedford, claimed that he was left with a split eyebrow after being punched in the face by an officer.

"They were absolutely outrageous," he said. "There was just no need for it. My friend is in hospital with a broken arm."

this is my original post on this subject, when i wrote when i eventually got home from glade, and more or less went on the computer - and wrote this when i was tired and rather angry

i can say just to blame farmers and that is completely wrong and uncalled for.. its just i wrote about what i saw. being charged £5 in the night and £20 a few hours later is not on in my book, especially if they were employed by glade to help.

indeed the RAC or AA prolly have stupid expensive call out charges too (something i didnt think about) which is not good either, but they are commercial organisations who u kind of expect to exploit people for profit anyway, but - i DO guess they have set charges for things..so u kinda know how much its goin to be costin before hand.

it seems so far that the tractor people were putting up prices all day, and if offered to pay more u could cue jump. this is just exploitation, in a country thats being seriously flooded and everyone is supposed to be helping others..

the idea of some people being charged 100£ just to get out of a muddy field cause they think they are gonna be trapped in a flooded car is horrible..

and if ya think thats exceptable behaviour then please get out of my life.

ok, went down to carpark saturday night to take all clothes and stuff - anythin that we could move... carpark was rammed with ppl tryin to get out... and loads of ppl were being towed by tractors.. being charged £5.. which i thought was wank,but ok a carload of ppl could scrape that together..


sunday - about 10 am ... it was TWENTY QUID... when we had all been advised to get off site because of storms about midday.. ppl were exhausted with draggin all there stuff there..


i'm sure the last thing they were expectin is being charged 20quid to get off a festival u've allready paid HUNDREDS too - ticket - food - beer etc etc

were the cash machines even working? imagine treking back there as impending storms move in to get money just because some FUCKER HAS NO HUMAN SYMPATHY and just takes advantage of ya suffering..

i saw one tracktor bastard running up and down a soggy que of ppl GLEEFULLY tellin em it was so much..
and i saw cars with bumpers ripped off and wrecked - bits of car everywhere..

we got out ok, then got newspaper, and SAW the whole devastation that had happened in that area over the weekend with floods and stuff.. and how ppl were helping their fellow man to survive... and there was NONE of  that at the end of glade.. just another chance to milk money from ppl..

my friend who was driving said the dude at the information point that day said 'the more money u have,the quicker u get to the front of the que' WHAT THE FUCK?

after everybody pulling together and makin the festival fun after all that rain and mud shit, to hear that - and the actions of the tractor drivers IS SHOCKING BEYOND BELIEF..

and for me, coming from a city, i believe its another example of countryside folk FUCKIN HATING US but yet - they expect us to subside their existance..
and also , maybe its some contempt the locals have for ppl going to glade, invading their space...all these kids coming to party AND ENJOY THEMSELVES...


as i write this - its 3pm, heavy storms are expected to move over that area... no doubt, like ppl i met .. there will be ppl stuck out there in this... with the farmers chargin through the nose... what happens when the cars get flooded? and ppl trapped potentially all night>?

i hope there is a riot and the trackor ppl die in their own mud. or that the army and firebrigade etc move in to get ppl out - and it goes on the news...

nope dont do it

i got their 17 inch dual core model and its totally incompatable with firewire soundcards... well my maudio 410 at least - and seeing as thats a common model then problems with others i do believe to be likely.

u cant listen to sound in webpages at all - so no checking myspace profiles...or any links u might be sent. this also crashes the audio engine of ya sequencer... and that - and stuff like winamp generally takes ages to start up

sometimes i've had the blue screen of death. on xp. now thats such a rare thing to get compared to the old days of me and 98...


the firewire is a mini port right below the touchpad as well so easily pulled out... wank.


i brought yesterday a expresscard firewire card - which has a texas instrument chipset (widely regarded as best for firewire) and it works ALOT better... ocassionally a few crashes of sound - but they are easily fixed by restarting brouser.. NOT a reboot like i was having to do.

still tho - the express card is of the slimmer 32 type - and is very very loose... i seriously would be worried to gig with it.. it comes out at the slightest touch..

maybe there is a bigger expresscard in the larger format that will fit snug...i've seen a few online but not sure about the chipset... but they do cost £60 - so i for now can wait...

Unless you have been walking around with your eyes closed, and your head encased in a block of concrete, with a blindfold tied round it, in the dark - unless you have been doing that, you surely can't have failed to notice the current Apple Macintosh campaign starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb, which has taken over magazines, newspapers and the internet in a series of brutal coordinated attacks aimed at causing massive loss of resistance. While I don't have anything against shameless promotion per se (after all, within these very brackets I'm promoting my own BBC4 show, which starts tonight at 10pm), there is something infuriating about this particular blitz. In the ads, Webb plays a Mac while Mitchell adopts the mantle of a PC. We know this because they say so right at the start of the ad.

"Hello, I'm a Mac," says Webb.

"And I'm a PC," adds Mitchell.

They then perform a small comic vignette aimed at highlighting the differences between the two computers. So in one, the PC has a "nasty virus" that makes him sneeze like a plague victim; in another, he keeps freezing up and having to reboot. This is a subtle way of saying PCs are unreliable. Mitchell, incidentally, is wearing a nerdy, conservative suit throughout, while Webb is dressed in laid-back contemporary casual wear. This is a subtle way of saying Macs are cool.

The ads are adapted from a near-identical American campaign - the only difference is the use of Mitchell and Webb. They are a logical choice in one sense (everyone likes them), but a curious choice in another, since they are best known for the television series Peep Show - probably the best sitcom of the past five years - in which Mitchell plays a repressed, neurotic underdog, and Webb plays a selfish, self-regarding poseur. So when you see the ads, you think, "PCs are a bit rubbish yet ultimately lovable, whereas Macs are just smug, preening tossers." In other words, it is a devastatingly accurate campaign.

I hate Macs. I have always hated Macs. I hate people who use Macs. I even hate people who don't use Macs but sometimes wish they did. Macs are glorified Fisher-Price activity centres for adults; computers for scaredy cats too nervous to learn how proper computers work; computers for people who earnestly believe in feng shui.

PCs are the ramshackle computers of the people. You can build your own from scratch, then customise it into oblivion. Sometimes you have to slap it to make it work properly, just like the Tardis (Doctor Who, incidentally, would definitely use a PC). PCs have charm; Macs ooze pretension. When I sit down to use a Mac, the first thing I think is, "I hate Macs", and then I think, "Why has this rubbish aspirational ornament only got one mouse button?" Losing that second mouse button feels like losing a limb. If the ads were really honest, Webb would be standing there with one arm, struggling to open a packet of peanuts while Mitchell effortlessly tore his apart with both hands. But then, if the ads were really honest, Webb would be dressed in unbelievably po-faced avant-garde clothing with a gigantic glowing apple on his back. And instead of conducting a proper conversation, he would be repeatedly congratulating himself for looking so cool, and banging on about how he was going to use his new laptop to write a novel, without ever getting round to doing it, like a mediocre idiot.

Cue 10 years of nasal bleating from Mac-likers who profess to like Macs not because they are fashionable, but because "they are just better". Mac owners often sneer that kind of defence back at you when you mock their silly, posturing contraptions, because in doing so, you have inadvertently put your finger on the dark fear haunting their feeble, quivering soul - that in some sense, they are a superficial semi-person assembled from packaging; an infinitely sad, second-rate replicant who doesn't really know what they are doing here, but feels vaguely significant and creative each time they gaze at their sleek designer machine. And the more deftly constructed and wittily argued their defence, the more terrified and wounded they secretly are.

Aside from crowing about sartorial differences, the adverts also make a big deal about PCs being associated with "work stuff" (Boo! Offices! Boo!), as opposed to Macs, which are apparently better at "fun stuff". How insecure is that? And how inaccurate? Better at "fun stuff", my arse. The only way to have fun with a Mac is to poke its insufferable owner in the eye. For proof, stroll into any decent games shop and cast your eye over the exhaustive range of cutting-edge computer games available exclusively for the PC, then compare that with the sort of rubbish you get on the Mac. Myst, the most pompous and boring videogame of all time, a plodding, dismal "adventure" in which you wandered around solving tedious puzzles in a rubbish magic kingdom apparently modelled on pretentious album covers, originated on the Mac in 1993. That same year, the first shoot-'em-up game, Doom, was released on the PC. This tells you all you will ever need to know about the Mac's relationship with "fun".

Ultimately the campaign's biggest flaw is that it perpetuates the notion that consumers somehow "define themselves" with the technology they choose. If you truly believe you need to pick a mobile phone that "says something" about your personality, don't bother. You don't have a personality. A mental illness, maybe - but not a personality. Of course, that hasn't stopped me slagging off Mac owners, with a series of sweeping generalisations, for the past 900 words, but that is what the ads do to PCs. Besides, that's what we PC owners are like - unreliable, idiosyncratic and gleefully unfair. And if you'll excuse me now, I feel an unexpected crash coming.

This week: Charlie watched some episodes of Larry Sanders (on his PC). He played the customised Fawlty Towers map for Counterstrike (on his PC). He listened to the Windows startup jingle every 10 minutes as his PC repeatedly rebooted itself.

elektric cooker DEATH

ok right, my cooker has exploded and ma landlandy isnt gettin me a new one..

she said somethin like 'i dont supply cookers because of tenants breaking them this one was just allready here when u moved in. u will have to get your own and get rid of this one.'

HHAAAAA - frak me wot a crock of shit. i think she thinks i was born yesterday, i told her never in a million lifetimes have i heard of a tenant supplying his own cooker - especially when the flat is supplied with bed and sofa's etc..

AND shes put my rent up-nothing too serious,but - combined with the cheek of this cooker thing and the fact that i pay extra in a month when the odd days add up to another week.. which now seems every month!

i feel like i am having the piss taken somewhat..no cooker for 3 weeks - microwave and sandwhiches only lol


so its time to go really. shame i like the location and being on ma own, i guess i'll have to move in with someone or - i dread - move back with my parents and brother.


the nightmare there is i have to be quiet at night,they all goto bed for 11pm and i am a nightowl (work nightshifts) and put up with the general groaning and moaning of family..

US casualties (dead and wounded) have now reached 27,000 in a war that was supposed to be a "cakewalk" over in a few weeks. If what four-star general Wesley Clark, former supreme commander of NATO, told Amy Goodman in a March 2 interview is correct, US casualties are yet in their early days.

Gen. Clark told Amy Goodman that shortly after 9/11 he was shown a Pentagon "memo that describes how we're going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran."

That sounds exactly like the plan that neoconservative Norman Podhoretz set out in Commentary magazine.

The media have done a good job for the government of keeping the blood and gore out of the living room. Except for close friends or relatives of one of the 27,000, Americans have not been impacted by the war. They are even less aware of the consequences for Iraqis.

Every day 100 or more Iraqi civilians are killed and 100 or more are maimed and injured. For example on Tuesday, March 6, the US lost 10 GIs killed. Iraqi casualties totaled 535, 152 killed and 383 wounded.

US troops routinely kill Iraqi civilians mistakenly or from frustration, but the heavy daily casualties are the result of the civil war made possible by the US overthrow of the Iraqi government. US troops per se are not responsible for much of the daily toll, but the Bush administration, Congress, and the American people are.

The March 6 toll of 535 casualties is high even for Iraq. Assume 200 casualties each day and the result is 73,000 Iraqi casualties per year. Why does anyone in the Bush administration, Congress, or among the public believe that the US has the right to wreck a country and be responsible for such extraordinary harm inflicted on a civilian population?

How did the "war on terror" become a war on the Iraqi people?

We have heard every answer: intelligence mistakes, incompetence, and evil machination. Whichever answer we take, the killing and destruction continue.

Why?

It has recently come to light that the US government has imposed an oil deal on the puppet Iraqi government that turns Iraqi oil over to US and British firms for exploitation. Bush-Cheney have not brought Iraqis democracy, but they have stolen their oil revenues.

The profits of the military-industrial complex are soaring, and higher military budgets are being appropriated. The value of Cheney's Haliburton stock options has not merely doubled or tripled but multiplied by a factor of 32.

The Israel Lobby sees the war as enhancing Israeli hegemony in the Middle East and making possible the completion of Israel's theft of Palestine from Palestinians.

Thus, the three most powerful lobbies in America are the beneficiaries of the devastation of Iraq. The combined power of these lobbies makes it impossible for Congress to respond to the American people and end the war.

American politicians and administrations still cloak their motives in idealistic principles, but it has been a long time since anyone has seen any principled behavior in Washington.

Despite the unrelenting US propaganda against Iran and North Korea, a poll of 28,000 people in 27 countries for the BBC World Service (March 6) found that Israel, Iran, and the US in that order are regarded as the most negative influences on the world. Even North Korea is regarded as a less negative influence than America.

Japan, Canada, the EU, France, China, and India are all regarded as more positive influences on the world than the United States.

The Bush Cheney-Regime has achieved this deplorable result in a mere 6 years.

Yet the Democrats cannot even pass a toothless resolution against committing more US troops in Iraq.

Far from making Americans safe by attacking a country that posed no threat to the US, Bush-Cheney have alarmed the Russians and the Chinese. Russian President Vladimir Putin and General Yury Baluyevsky, Chief of the Russian General Staff, have both warned that the Bush regime's military aggression and drive for hegemony are setting off another arms race. General Baluyevsky says that Russia might pull out of the 20-year-old Intermediate Nuclear Forces Treaty.

China has announced a 17.8 percent increase in its military budget for 2007.
